"Righteous Mahomedans"
Pope Pius IX secures our friendship with our comrades across the sea

In an historic move, His Holiness is today welcoming King Sulaīmān Fakhouri IV of Liao Biella to Rome for a series of discussions on how best to cement their recently arranged friendship. In the talks, the two great monarchs are likely to comprehensively bring their nations into a full military, economic and cultural alliance which will truly stand the test of time.

Many people have been concerned about the morality of the Biellans, who are mainly Moslem by faith. His Holiness has addressed this fact openly and respectfully, saying that the people of L'iao Biella are "the most gracious and moral race outside of our own borders" and that they are "righteous Mahomedans, and far away from the debauched Seljuk barbarians".

If our Holy leader is correct- which, by his very nature, he almost certainly is- the citizens of our great nation can only reap the benefits of this new friendship, which will serve as a powerful deterrent to depraved peoples such as the Turks and the Hanseatics. In such immoral times, it's good to see that the noblest of states are beginning to work together to combat the empires of Satan.

Heretics Propose Schism
Corrupt, heathen Lusitanians plot against His Holiness

To the complete surprise of the Catholic community, a rebel collective of Cardinals have organised an anti-Christian conference where they will, amongst other things, plot the destruction of our beloved Pope Pius IX. The movement is, allegedly, a response to His Holiness' decision to abandon the bigotry of the past and make an alliance with a Moslem nation. The heathens- mastered by that ludicrous snake Cardinal Felipe Montaya of Lusitania- have gained support only from the mainly Orthodox Russians and mainly Lutheran Hanseatics.

On top of their failures in gaining mainstream support, ideological contradictions also ensure the defeat of the schism movement. Firstly, how can White Russia and the Hanseatic Empire pretend to show anti-Mohamadan sentiments when they themselves are allied to the Turks, Moselms who have enslaved and oppressed Balkan Christians for centuries? Perhaps more crucially, they are forgetting that loyalty to His Holiness is a central tenet of Catholic belief. It's clear that the three countries are simply trying to exploit the international situation in order to service their own impious, nationalistic agendas.

The Pope has, "with a heavy heart", been forced to expel and excommunicate Cardinal Montaya, and to strip the pro-division Hanseatic and Russian Cardinals of their positions. All other officials who attend the conference will themselves be condemned to an afterlife of damnation and suffering. His Holiness is also expected to require all priests to pledge their allegiance to the one true church, or face expulsion themselves, although no definitive statement has yet been made.

His Holiness Writes to the Oppressed
Our Beloved Pope addresses Catholics in the Schism Nations

An historic letter has been sent to Catholics suffering under a separatist, government-controlled Church. His Holiness himself said that the epistle was intended to "protect Christ's presence in Europe" and to "show the folly of the path of darkness". The letter says:

To Our Faithful Brothers and Sisters in the Hanseatic Empire, United Kingdom of Lusitania and the Menshevik Republic of White Russia,

His Holiness is aware that some of the representatives of your church have been preaching wicked falsehoods, and that they are trying to lead you astray from the path of light. Please be assured that our beloved Pope has declared all of the dissenters as heretics and traitors, and that they no longer posses any divine authority. Make no mistake- their repulsive talk is the work of the Devil and of nationalistic puppets, and not of our Lord Jesus Christ.

His Holiness urges all of the faithful to pressure the heathens into returning to the fold, peacefully if possible, forcefully if necessary. Furthermore, the true Pope Pius IX assures you that any who succumb to thee temptations of heresy will suffer in eternal hellfire upon their judgement. Finally, always remember that God and your one true Catholic Church will always love the pious, no matter how corrupt or unholy their rulers prove themselves.

His Holiness Pope Pius IX

All priests in the relevant countries have been instructed to read out the letter in their sermons. In light of the urgency of the situation, His Holiness has even authorised them to read it out in the vernacular of their congregation, as opposed to Latin. The piece has also been circulated in written form across the nations through the help of the faithful.

"That Viking Worm..."
His Holiness tells the PCCS what he thinks about the new wave of oppression in the Hanseatic Empire

In a disgusting but not surprising display of cruelty and barbarity, Kaiser Hans Wilhelm IV has initiated a program of anti-Catholic oppression in his country, to the extent where he has threatened all Catholic activists to imprisonment and torture in his most inhumane prisons. Perhaps more repulsively still, the Emperor has made numerous threats against His Holiness himself, threatening him with arrest if he were to visit the Hanseatic Empire (an action utterly contradiction diplomatic etiquette). The action is a response to an overwhelming wave of Hanseatic Christian support for Pius, which has crippled the Empire's economy and come close to toppling the Hanseatic hold on many of its cities, especially the capital, Stockholm.

In response to these momentous events, His Holiness offered to give a few of his opinions to Papal News. Of course, we jumped at the chance. Our first and most urgent question was what His Holiness felt about the horrific oppression suffered by Catholics in the Hanseatic Empire.

"It's appalling that a national leader would treat his people this way," he answered with great solemnity, "I can hardly believe that Wilhelm has sunk so low as to single out people merely for their dedication to faith. If he pursues this course, I can't see a future for Papal-Hanseatic relations.

The serious tone was broken when we asked him about his reaction to the Kaiser's personal threats against him, to which he immediately let out a scornful laugh.

"That Viking worm just can't stand the fact that I can do more damage with a flick of my pen than he can with all his rants and decrees." he finally announced, with a quiver of genuine anger audible within his generally derisive tone.

Finally, we enquired as to Pius' thoughts on his flock's actions in the Hanseatic Empire.

"I've never been so proud or overjoyed at this demonstration of faith," he said, his face glowing with joy, "I can only remind my faithful servants that the Kaiser's threats can only touch them mortally, whereas the path of the Holy Cross can give them bliss everlasting."

His Holiness Heads to Montreal
Acadia joins the Papal-Biellan Alliance

The Commonwealth of Acadia- a French-speaking republic in North America- has joined the Papal States and L'iao Biella in a three-way alliance. The development came as a result of a combination His Holiness' initiative and Acadian goodwill. As a result, His Holiness is traveling half-way around the world for a summit in Montreal.

"No matter how heretical or barbarous other nations may show themselves, the Acadians have always been honest, peaceful members of the international community, and a great friend of our Holy Church". His Holiness announced before cheering crowds. His statement was, predictably, correct- the Acadian Commonwealth is not only an honourable and respectable nation but it has a largely Catholic majority.

"Besides," added His Holiness, grinning, "I'm excited about the journey!"

The addition of Acadia to the alliance will create a counterbalance to the imperialistic Ashkari Treaty between Russia, Turkey and the Hanseatics, which will help people from around the world to resist their attempts to enslave all free peoples and convert them to their various false sects.

Administration of the Papal States will be conduct by the College of Cardinals until our Holy Pope returns.

The Balkan Question
As tensions with Turkey grow, the PCSC reexamines the Balkan situation

For centuries the Turks have imposed a brutal regime on the good Christians of the Balkans, subjecting them to a life of degradation and oppression. Even though many Balkan territories were released following the Great War (some of which were liberated by Pontifical armies), a significant portion of the peninsula is still under the sway of the Mohamadans.

Reports which have filtered through from displeased Greeks and Slavs have unanimously urged His Holiness to liberate them from the Turkish yoke. Their grievances include suppression of their natural Christian religion, harsh authoritative rule, and, most deplorably, the participation of their Seljuk occupiers in the ritual humiliation of their people. They are, of course, encouraged by the great successes the Papal government has enjoyed following the annexation of Croatia and Albania, and they hope for a future where the light of our Holy Pope illuminates their territories also.

Since the end of the Great War His Holiness has only made a single announcement on the issue, saying that whilst he "desires the freedom of the Balkan Christians", he does not consider the problem a "just cause for initiating bloodshed". Some Cardinals are, however, suggesting that stronger action should be taken to free the Greeks and Slavs, especially considering increasing Seljuk agression. It is expected that Pope Pius will address the issue upon his return from the Acadian Commonwealth.

Cowardly Turks Up Oppression
Terrified Moslems pour troops into the Balkans

The Seljuk Empire has sent vast numbers of soldiers to their Balkan provinces, with the aim of preserving their brutal treatment of the Greeks and Slavs. The Turkish government announced the decision on Thursday, claiming that it was in response to Papal "prejudice" against them. In reality, their actions were clearly conducted out of fear that their Christian subjects would finally unite against them under the Pontifical banner.

"The Turks are fully aware that they're on the brink of a revolution in the Balkans," His Holiness said to a PCCS reporter, "All they're doing is delaying what they know is inevitable." Pope Pius also promised that a mass rebellion in the Balkans would have the Papal States' "full support", but it's unclear whether or not this included military as well as democratic aid.

The development is further evidence of the deterioration of the Turkish position in the Balkans. No matter how much money and manpower they throw into the area, they will always be viewed as alien heathens by their pious Christian subjects, who are gradually realising that they have the power to topple their corrupt overlords.
